A Luxembourgish passport is a travel document issued by the State which enables its holders to be identified by foreign authorities.
The Luxembourgish passport is established according to the standards for security features and biometrics in the passports of EU citizens.
The biometric passport includes an electronic chip containing the holder’s identity picture, two images of his/her digital fingerprints, and an image of the signature.
Since the introduction of biometric passports, the State issues one document per holder, so that each child has their own passport.
Some countries only grant entry visas to persons who have a passport valid for at least another 6 months after the expiration date of the visa applied for.
